Maxtech, based in Waterloo, Ontario, has committed to establishing an operation in Edmonton to service the needs of Alberta's energy industry. Maxtech, in partnership with Syncrude Research, has developed new technologies to improve efficiencies in heavy oil extraction projects. Maxtech has received approval on its laser cladding technology. The company is now waiting to field-test its product for Syncrude before it finalizes its location.
Maxtech is also a joint venture partner in Machine Works Corp., a new Edmonton-based business opened in April 2008.
