In its second annual survey of U.S. attitudes on manufacturing, the Manufacturing Institute and Deloitte find that citizens say manufacturing is vital to the nation's economy, and that American workers are well equipped to perform manufacturing work.

The labor force was a bright spot for those surveyed, who said the strength of the work force was one of the most important factors to U.S. manufacturing success.

Simultaneously, Americans worried about government policies and leadership in the manufacturing sector. Overall, those surveyed were confident the U.S. could create economic success through manufacturing, but they don't see the leadership and policies required to keep manufacturing healthy in the long-term.
