ArvinMeritor, an auto part supplier, is investing $23 million and creating 125 jobs at its headquarters in Troy, Michigan, with assistance from personal and real property tax abatements from the city, the Oakland Press reports.

"This is a truly public-private partnership, as ArvinMeritor continues to evolve and excel in new markets," said Jerry Rush, ArvinMeritor's senior director of government and community relations. "We're committed to meeting with city, state, and county officials to make sure the investments made to ArvinMeritor by taxpayers and the senior management team are truly worthwhile."

The tax abatements will total $2.4 million. The company also received a $2.2 million grant from the Michigan Economic Growth Authority (MEGA) and a $1.9 million grant from Oakland County towards employee training.

ArvinMeritor makes heavy-duty truck, defense, and industrial drive train parts.
