The United Auto Workers (UAW) ended their strike against Chrysler
approximately six hours after it began, with negotiators reaching a
tentative contract agreement that still must be ratified by the
rank-and-file. A UAW statement said that workers were instructed to
report to their next available shift. Now that talks are completed with
Chrysler, the union will next begin negotiations with Ford Motor
Company, which industry sources say will be expected to match the terms
of the agreements with Chrysler and General Motors, with whom the UAW
settled two weeks ago.
