Magna International, a Cananda-based leading global automotive supplier, is expanding its manufacturing operations with a new exteriors facility at Matrix Park in Southern Greenville County, South Carolina. The facility will be located at the corner of U.S. Highway 25 and Interstate 85. The $50.8 million investment is expected to create 153 jobs.

The company’s Greenville County facility will support new business with BMW to supply various exterior molded and painted assemblies. The company plans to move into its newly-constructed 165,000-square-foot facility in June 2016.

The company's product capabilities include producing body, chassis, exterior, seating, powertrain, electronic, vision, closure and roof systems and modules, as well as complete vehicle engineering and contract manufacturing. The Coordinating Council for Economic Development has approved job development credits related to the project.

"South Carolina continues to build on its reputation as a leader in the automotive industry. Magna's decision to expand in Greenville County is a testament to that. This $50.8 million investment is a huge win for our state, and the 153 new jobs it will create will make a real difference in the lives of South Carolinians,” said Governor Nikki Haley.

"Our state has a long and storied tradition in the automotive industry, and we're excited that Magna International continues to be an important part of that tradition. Announcements like today's are meaningful because of what it says about the business environment we've cultivated, not just in Greenville County, but throughout our entire state,” Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt added.

"Greenville County's automotive economy continues to grow at a solid rate. Magna International's commitment to its facility at Matrix Park is proof-positive that future growth in this sector will continue for many years to come,” Greenville County Council Chairman Dr. Bob Taylor said.
