Three companies expanding in Utah are bringing a combined 1,200 new jobs to the state, announced the Governor's Office of Economic Development (GOED).

Science Applications International Corporation plans on expanding its Utah operations by adding 200 jobs and doubling its current workforce. The technology-focused firm does work in the national security, cybersecurity, energy, health and environment sectors, among others. The GOED board approved a $2.2 million, 10-year post-performance, refundable tax credit for this expansion.

GOED also approved a $3.2 million, post-performance refundable tax credit for Clearfield-based Lifetime Products. The business expects to expand its Utah plastics manufacturing facility with a $41 million capital investment and add 282 workers over the next decade. It presently employs 1,700 associates in the state.

Finally, GOED approved a $521,867 incentive which will give a 10-year post-performance refundable tax credit to Home Depot for establishing a national customer service operation in Ogden. The home improvement retailer anticipates adding 691 jobs; most of its new employees should be on board by late next year.

GOED Executive Director Spencer Eccles said these companies represent a broad, diversified group of organizations that "[speak] to the economic vitality of Utah." The announcements "move us further down the path of accomplishing our goal of creating 100,000 jobs in 1,000 days."
