Northern Ireland-based Almac, a provider of research, development, and
technology for the pharmaceutical industries, will build a new North
American headquarters in Lower Salford Township, Montgomery County,
Pennsylvania. The new facility will combine and expand the company's
two existing operations in the state into a 240,000-square-foot
building that company officials expect to begin constructing next year.
Along with retaining 495 existing positions, Almac plans to add more
than 260 new positions, many of them in software development and
laboratory specialties. "Our positive experience to date in
Pennsylvania and especially the availability of a skilled and committed
workforce was a major factor in this decision," says Sir Allen McClay,
Almac's chairperson. Company officials also expect future expansion to
create an additional 400 jobs by 2013.
