Agricultural equipment giant Deere & Company will recall 452 manufacturing employees who had been on layoff at the John Deere Ottumwa Works plant in Ottumwa, Iowa. The company says in a statement that the workers will be back beginning on November 30 to begin production of new 2010 models; 78 additional workers will remain on layoff until market conditions improve. Deere had placed the majority of its manufacturing work force on layoff in June of this year. The Ottumwa Works factory employs about 260 salaried employees and 720 wage employees; the plant makes equipment that includes balers, forage harvesters, and mower conditioners.
