XPO Logistics Inc., a provider of transportation logistics services in North America, will invest nearly $2.7 million to establish a logistics center on South Fourth Street, in Louisville, Kentucky, with plans to generate 120 jobs in the Commonwealth.

Sean Fernandez, Chief Operating Officer of XPO Logistics, said, “We’re extremely pleased that the state of Kentucky has been so supportive of our plans to expand in the Commonwealth. The Greater Louisville operation is an important milestone in the rapid growth of our customer service network. We expect to start hiring in sales and operations functions immediately.”

Tracing its roots back to 1989, XPO Logistics more than quadrupled the size of its business in the last two years. The company offers truckload and less-than-truckload brokerage, last-mile logistics, ground-air expedited transportation, and freight forwarding services to more than 8,600 customers in the manufacturing, industrial, retail, food and beverage, commercial, life sciences and government sectors. XPO Logistics is relatively new to the Louisville area, having acquired a small logistics operation here earlier this year, the Governor’s Office said. The company currently employs 14 people in that facility.

“XPO Logistics represents so much of what our economic development strategy is all about,” said Greater Louisville Inc. President and CEO Craig Richard. “It is exciting to welcome these high-tech and high paying jobs within an ever growing logistics sector where we have developed a highly competitive advantage. We are so pleased to have their leadership and look forward to their success here in Greater Louisville.”

“This is indeed a great day for Kentucky and our Louisville area workforce, as XPO Logistics plans to add 120 new jobs with the establishment of its new logistics center,” said Gov. Steve Beshear. “Transportation-related companies like XPO Logistics have found that Kentucky offers the business-friendly environment and talent pool needed to provide customers with exceptional service and support. I extend my congratulations to all involved for making this job growth possible.”

“It is exciting to welcome XPO Logistics to downtown Louisville as they become a part of our fast growing logistics and distribution sector,” said Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer. “The 120 jobs and more than $5 million payroll they bring with them provides just the kind of opportunities we are working diligently to make available to our talented workforce. XPO’s demonstrated confidence in our community is a testament to the depth of our business resources and the quality of life we enjoy here in the region.”
