United Parcel Service Inc., a package delivery company, will create 1,250 jobs and invest more than $400 million to establish a regional sorting and distribution hub in Atlanta, Georgia.

When combined with the strong transportation connections and talented labor pool that Atlanta provides, UPS is building flexibility to meet the growing needs of our customers and our business in Georgia, and around the world.”

“I am very pleased to see that UPS, a Fortune 500 company and mainstay in Atlanta for many years, will plant deeper roots in our city with this new hub of operations,” said Mayor Kasim Reed. “This investment in southwest Atlanta will not only create 1,250 new jobs, it also strengthens our position as an international hub for logistics supported by the world’s busiest passenger airport and the many global companies who call Atlanta home.”

UPS employs more than 14,000 Georgia citizens in package delivery operations, ground freight, aircraft operations, data center management and contract logistics. Product and technology development, global transportation network planning and other corporate staffs are based in metro Atlanta.
