Maxim Medical Services Inc., a medical equipment installation and repair firm, will invest more than $1.6 million to expand its operations in Churubusco, Indiana, according to the Indiana governor's office. The company, which plans to create 51 new jobs over the next three years, will expand its distribution operations and establish a light manufacturing center in an existing 50,000-square-foot facility. "We chose Indiana as the center of our business because of its proximity to a sizeable percentage of the general population and, therefore, potential customers," says Phil Cowart, Maxim Medical's owner and vice president. "The acquisition of the property in Churubusco will be invaluable in facilitating the growth that our company has been striving for since its inception." The company plans to move into the new facility during the first quarter of next year. The state has offered Maxim Medical up to $175,000 in performance-based tax credits and $30,000 in training grants, contingent on job creation; Allen County will also consider additional property tax abatement.
