Area Development
DuPont-Danisco Cellulosic Ethanol LLC (DDCE) is expanding in Iowa with help from a $9 million grant from the Iowa Power Fund Board. The company, which is considering locations in Story and Webster Counties, will build a commercial-scale demonstration biorefinery plant that will make cellulosic ethanol.

The company expects to create at least 60 jobs. DDCE expects to complete the facility by the end of March 2014. As part of the grant, the company must retain at least 60 jobs for six years after the project completion date.

DDCE is investing $226 million in the new facility and expansion. The plant will be able to produce 25 million gallons of cellulosic ethanol each year. It will use corn stover - corn leaves and stalks leftover after harvest - as the raw material.
