Carver Companies, a diversified group of manufacturing and construction companies, will be expanding its operations in North Charleston, South Carolina. The expansion is expected to bring $13 million of new capital investment and lead to the creation of 22 new jobs.

Located on the former U.S. Naval Base at 1210 Truxtun Avenue, the company has already begun pier dredging and building renovations.

“I am humbled by the hospitality shown by the Charleston business community, as well as the state and local economic development folks here in the greater Charleston area. We look forward to developing a long and mutually-beneficial relationship with both, as Carver Companies continues to grow and bring more jobs to South Carolina,” said Carver Companies President Carver Laraway.

Carver Companies also includes Canaday Sweepers Property Management, Carver Sand and Gravel, Coeymans Industrial Park, Port of Coeymans and Coeymans Marine Towing (CMT), all of which are based in New York. Through CMT, the company owns and operates eight tug boats and 30 barges, which are used to service clients’ needs.

“The fact that Carver Companies has chosen to expand in South Carolina and continue to invest in our people is something for our state to be proud of. This sends a signal to the whole world that our state is open for business,” Governor Henry McMaster said.

“Today’s announcement is yet another big victory for our state’s industrial community. I’m excited by all of the success Carver Companies has achieved in South Carolina and across the United States, and I look forward to watching them continue to grow here,” Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt added.

“The Carver Companies announcement demonstrates our investment in supporting and fostering growth within our existing businesses. Our Business Concierge team was able to expeditiously support Carver’s needs, helping to facilitate this exciting expansion for the City of North Charleston,” said Charleston County Economic Development Director Steve Dykes.
