Hylan, a provider of specialized communications engineering and construction services, is expanding into the Mid-Atlantic region through the acquisition of Down Under Construction, a Sterling, Virginia-based construction contractor servicing the communications and electrical industry.

According to company officials, the company offers directional drilling, trenching, cable placement, engineering and permitting, and restoration services to support underground construction for communications and electrical infrastructure owned by fiber carriers, data center operators, and federal organizations.

President Daryl Dunbar, who founded DUC in 1993, will remain in the same position post-closing. DUC will continue to operate under the Down Under Construction name.

Robert DiLeo, CEO of Hylan, said, "We look forward to working closely with Daryl Dunbar and the rest of the DUC team. The Mid-Atlantic region, especially dense metropolitan markets like Northern Virginia, Washington DC and Baltimore will likely attract significant communications-related investment in the coming years."

Bill LaPerch, Executive Chairman of Hylan, said, "Hylan is fully committed to identifying and working with talented operators across the United States to capitalize on the rapidly increasing broadband demand trends responsible for building new or upgrading existing network infrastructure."

Dunbar commented, "I am proud of what DUC has achieved over the last 25 years and we are eager to begin this new partnership with Hylan to further accelerate our growth while maintaining our dedication to the highest level of quality and customer service."
