McKesson Medical-Surgical Inc., a distributor of medical supplies, plans to establish its new $27.5 million, 300,000 square foot, distribution facility at Riverwalk Business Park in Rock Hill, South Carolina. The new facility, which is scheduled to open during the first half of 2015, is expected to bring more than 140 jobs in York County.

The company will distribute medical and surgical supplies to physician offices, surgery centers, long-term care facilities and home care businesses in a regional service area that includes the Carolinas. The York County facility has the flexibility to expand over time to meet the company's increasing distribution needs.

"We're pleased to expand our operations into South Carolina. York County is well located to efficiently serve our customers in the region. Also, this is a great opportunity to match the strength of the state's infrastructure and labor force with our strong growth,” Stanton McComb, President of McKesson Medical-Surgical.

"McKesson is a leader in distribution for the medical industry, and South Carolina's robust logistics network will be able to accommodate their business and their growth in the coming years. We look forward to being a part of McKesson's success story.” Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt said. The Coordinating Council for Economic Development approved job development credits and a $200,000 set aside grant for building construction related to the project.

"Riverwalk Business Park is growing more rapidly than expected, due to its proximity to the interstate and the success of the mixed-use development. Business leaders are recognizing that Rock Hill has a lot to offer, and the addition of McKesson to our community is further proof that we are becoming a leader among high-tech companies. We are honored that McKesson has chosen Rock Hill for this significant investment and know that we'll have a long, successful future together,” Rock Hill Mayor Doug Echols explained.
