SD Industries, a leading manufacturer in the swine industry, plans to expand its manufacturing facility and double production, with the purchase of additional equipment in Alexandria, South Dakota.

According to state officials, the company was approved for a Revolving Economic Development and Initiative Fund loan by the Board of Economic Development. The loan will allow the company to double its production, while decreasing its utility cost.

“SD Industries will use this funding to purchase a fiber optic laser which is not only expected to increase production and decrease utility costs, but also result in eight new jobs,” said Governor Dennis Daugaard. “This is exactly the sort of thing the REDI Fund was intended for.”

SD Industries CEO Brian Stork said, “We believe in South Dakota and Governor Daugaard and his staff, and we like what they’re doing to help small businesses and manufacturing companies grow in rural communities.”

“The new employment opportunities that will come out of us being able to purchase this new equipment will bring new families to the area, impact the local economy and show America that rural South Dakota is open for business,” Stork said.
