Officials in Kansas City, Missouri, will develop a parcel of land on the southeast corner of Kanas City International Airport to create the KCI Intermodal BusinessCentre, an 800-acre multi-use facility. Phase I will include construction of infrastructure to support seven buildings encompassing approximately 2.7 million square feet of intermodal distribution, logistics, and light manufacturing space. Phase II will extend the infrastructure to a contiguous 400 acres of land suited for development of air cargo and freight logistics facilities. Long-term plans include commercial and retail development in the area. Construction is expected to begin this fall under the direction of master developer Trammell Crow Company.
