Area Development
HDR, a 98-year old company that specializes in engineering, architecture, environmental and construction services, selected the location for its new global headquarters, which will remain in Omaha, Nebraska. The headquarters will be located at 11th and Dodge streets downtown.

The lease on the current location expires in January 2019, and the new building will be ready for occupancy that month. The new building will be approximately 290,000 square feet, allowing HDR to expand as the company continues to grow.

There was never any question the firm would stay in Omaha, Chairman/CEO George A. Little said. “Our history is here and our employees have their roots here. Omaha is a family-friendly city with an unmatched quality of life, and both the city of Omaha and state of Nebraska have strong and supportive business environments.”

The new location ends a search process that took a year and a half and included multiple locations across the Omaha area, according to Little. “We have outgrown our office space and parking needs at the 84th and Dodge location. Our requirements included being able to bring people together in one location and provide parking for everyone.”

In addition to meeting those requirements, the new location for the headquarters offers several other advantages for a global company, Little said. “It has excellent amenities including airport and hotel access for our business partners and employees from around the world, as well as good commuting access for our Omaha employees. We’re happy we can add to the city’s vibrant core.”
