Fancy Pokket, a Canadian baker of flat breads which distributes across North America, will be the first tenant in the new 550-acre Lancaster County, South Carolina, Air-Rail Industrial Park on South Carolina Highway 9 near Lancaster County Airport.

The company will invest $8 million in a new 34,000 state-of-the-art bakery facility, on 13 acres at the park, which will produce gluten-free baked goods. The new facility will employ 68 employees and will be the first major production facility of gluten free products in the eastern U.S. when production begins in early 2014, the Charlotte Regional Partnership officials said.

Last year, City Council voted to spend up to $900,000 a water and sewer project for the park, including the installation of two sewer pump stations, according to the Lancaster, South Carolina Economic Development Corp.

Lancaster County Council and the Lancaster County Economic Development Corporation developed plans for a new industrial park at this site near the L&C Railway which has dual access to both CSX and Norfolk Southern main lines. The County approved a $3.5 million bond in 2011 to purchase 100 of the 550 acres to construct the new Class A business park with an additional 450 acres available for future growth.
