Prysmian Group North America, a leading manufacturer of low, medium and extra-high voltage electrical cables, is expanding its existing operations and product manufacturing capacity in Abbeville County, South Carolina. The expansion will result in an additional $14 million of capital investment.

A world leader in sustainability, Prysmian will be expanding the facility and purchasing additional equipment to fulfill future renewable energy projects, such as wind farm operations. This facility was the first to produce extra-high voltage cables in North America, and the company plans to continue investing in high-tech, high value-added sectors.

“As a global leader in innovation and sustainability, Prysmian Group is pleased to announce the expansion of our Abbeville facility to meet the growing demand from our customers as they expand renewable energy production. We look forward to continued investment in South Carolina, where business, talent and success go hand in hand,” said Prysmian Group North America CEO Hakan Ozmen.

“South Carolina businesses continue to excel, thanks to the dedication displayed by our world-class workforce. Prysmian’s additional investment in Abbeville County is a testament to the reputation that local workers have built, and I look forward to seeing all that they’ll achieve in the years to come,” Governor Henry McMaster said.

“The people of Abbeville County are proud that Prysmian Group has selected Abbeville County for their latest expansion. We believe it speaks to the quality of our workforce and the strength of our relationships between the private and public sector. County Council is especially grateful that Prysmian has chosen our community for both their financial investment and the creation of these quality jobs. We look forward to seeing both Prysmian and Abbeville County prosper,” said Abbeville County Council Chairman Bryan McClain.
