SIMCO of Southern Indiana, a startup company focused on manufacturing reflective bubble insulation products, plans to build a new facility in Crawford County, Indiana. The company plans to create 10 jobs by 2021.

Founded by small business owners, Tom and Kris Wieckowski, SIMCO will construct and equip a 12,000-square-foot facility at the Crawford County Industrial Park, located off of Interstate 64, at 6225 E. Industrial Lane in Leavenworth, Indiana.

Scheduled to be fully operational by December 2018, SIMCO will make reflective bubble insulation products, which are used in the construction of post-frame, pole and metal buildings. Currently, there are only three U.S.-based companies who manufacture these type of insulation products.

"We're excited to announce our new venture will be located in Crawford County Industrial Park. With the start up of SIMCO manufacturing, we're planning to bring new employment opportunities to southern Indiana," said Kris Wieckowski. "We're appreciative of the outstanding collaboration and assistance provided by the Crawford County Economic Development committee in making this a reality for us and for the community of Crawford County."

The IEDC offered SIMCO up to $80,000 in conditional tax credits based on the company’s job creation plans. These tax credits are performance-based, meaning until Hoosiers are hired, the company is not eligible to claim incentives. The Crawford County Redevelopment Commission approved additional incentives at the request of Crawford County Economic Development. Radius Indiana's Regional Impact Fund provided financial grant assistance to help pay for infrastructure improvements at the industrial park.

"In Indiana, we're committed to creating an entrepreneurial ecosystem that offers the support and resources job creators need to launch and grow their dream businesses," said Elaine Bedel, President of the Indiana Economic Development Corporation. "We look forward to witnessing SIMCO's growth in southern Indiana and the good jobs they create in the community."

"Radius is excited to witness SIMCO's expansion at the industrial park; when local companies invest in growth, it's a sign of community strength,” said Jeff Quyle, President of Radius Indiana. “We're glad we were able to help support the infrastructure development that is taking place, and we'll continue to work with the local leaders in Crawford County to assist any time they feel Radius can be a productive partner.”

"This is a textbook example of true partnership and collaboration with the state, region, and local entities to provide a great package to support a growing business here in Crawford County,” said Michael Thissen, Economic Development Director for Crawford County. “We all want to build capacity and prosperity and this project is a perfect example of leadership, I’m truly excited for future endeavors of Crawford County and our region."
