Hisense Corporation USA, a division of China-headquartered Hisense Company Ltd., will invest $800,000 to expand its North American headquarters operation in Gwinnett, Georgia, according to local economic development officials. The company plans to create between 35 and 40 new jobs with an average annual salary of $55,000. Hisense is China's largest manufacturer and distributor of flat-panel screens and is the only company in Georgia that is fully owned by a Chinese government entity -- in this case, the city of Qingdao. "Gwinnett County offers much in the way of international business growth," says Steven Cohen, director of Hisense Corporation USA. "With a strong work force from which to recruit, a business-friendly environment, and close proximity to the world's busiest airport, it was a perfect fit for Hisense, and that's why we chose to remain and expand in this progressive community." The investment announcement was made during a business recruitment mission to China by economic development officials from Gwinnett County.
