Online retailer Amazon.com will open a new distribution center in Plainfield, Indiana, that will create more than 350 jobs over the next three years. The 950,000-square-foot facility will be located in a new spec building in the Airtech Logistics Park near the Indianapolis International Airport, and will be Amazon's third distribution center in the state. "We've been very pleased with the success of both our Indiana facilities and are looking forward to opening our new Plainfield fulfillment center later this year," says Arthur Valdez, Amazon's director of North American fulfillment. The company plans to begin equipping the facility immediately and will start the hiring process in the coming weeks; positions will include managers, warehouse supervisors, and warehouse associates. State incentives include up to $1.65 million in performance-based tax credits and up to $149,500 in training grants based on job creation plans. The city is also considering property tax abatements.
