Perfect Fit Industries, a Charlotte, North Carolina, textile company that produces pillows and electric blankets, is closing its Loogootee, Indiana facility, laying off 95 workers, the Indy Star reports. The facility had been in operation since 1932.

"Generations have worked there. Whole families work there, and this will be devastating for them," said Loogootee Clerk Treasurer Nancy Jones, who once worked in the factory herself.

"Out of a city of 2,700 people, that's a pretty devastating number," Mayor Don Bowling told the Loogootee Tribune.

Company human resources director Dexter Royal said Perfect Fit would help the laid off workers find new jobs, but they will not be offered transfers to other company facilities or significant severance benefits.

Perfect Fit also has facilities in California, New Hampshire, and North Carolina.
