Powertech America, a supplier of automotive parts for Kia Motors Corporation, will locate its first U.S. factory in West Point, Georgia, with an investment of $150 million, according to the Georgia governor's office. The company , a subsidiary of Korea-based Hyundai Powertech, will construct a 213,000-square-foot facility at the Kia Motors site in West Point that is scheduled to open next year. More than 355 jobs will be created with the project. "We are proud to locate our first U.S. plant here in West Point. Powertech has a reputation for excellence, and we look forward to making our mark with high-tech six-speed automatic transmissions in Georgia," says Il-Soo Jung, director of Hyundai Powertech. Production at the new Powertech plant is scheduled to begin in February 2010.
