Area Development
Bobcat Company completed construction of its $28 million, two-story, 190,000 square foot, Acceleration Center in Bismarck, North Dakota’s Northern Plains Commerce Centre. The Acceleration Center will serve as a key engineering facility for Bobcat and its parent company, Doosan.

With construction starting in May 2013, the project involved expanding Bobcat’s existing building to include laboratory and office space, classrooms and product testing and demonstration areas. Employees also have 22 acres for outside testing and product development.

Bobcat’s Acceleration Center will support 175 employees tasked with initial design, engineering, prototype manufacturing, computer simulation and product testing. The center’s research and development teams will advance product innovation for Bobcat compact equipment and some Doosan heavy equipment to benefit customers worldwide.

In addition to the Acceleration Center, Bobcat also operates an attachments production facility in Bismarck. In all, West Fargo-based Bobcat Co. employs about 2,000 people in North Dakota.

“Bobcat is a great North Dakota success story and this Acceleration Center further positions Bobcat for even greater things to come,” said Governor Jack Dalrymple. “The state-of-the-art Acceleration Center will serve to keep Bobcat at the forefront of innovation while supporting local jobs and creating economic opportunities for our state.”
