Addressing concerns about having well-trained workers for next-generation industries, the government of South Korea will invest US$900 million in training programs for young people, according to Agence France-Presse. The Ministry of Strategy and Finance says the investment will ease youth unemployment and increase expertise in such industries as green technologies, biotech, information technology, and knowledge-based services. The government plans to pass the funding along to schools and research institutes that have relevant training programs, with a goal of educating at least 100,000 students. The investments are scheduled to begin next year with an initial outlay of $118 million.
