Two companies will make investments of more than $10 million to locate projects in South Carolina, according to the South Carolina governor's office. Carolina Ingredients Inc., a custom blender of spices and food ingredients for the commercial food industry, will invest $4 million to open a new facility in Rock Hill. The project is expected to create 45 new jobs over the next five years. "Our company has seen substantial growth over the years, and this new facility will allow us to continue to expand and meet rising customer demand," says Doug Meyer-Cuno, the company president. "York County and Rock Hill provide the perfect fit for our operations, with an excellent business environment and labor force." Operations are scheduled to begin in December. In Hardeeville, AGM Imports, a provider of granite and marble stone for the homebuilding industry, has invested $6 million to locate a new distribution facility. The project is expected to generate 15 new jobs. "The new facility will allow us to meet demand from our customers in the area and throughout the region," says Douglas Smith, the company's CFO. "Jasper County is the right fit for our company, providing a positive business environment and a strong work force." AGM is in the process of moving from its current location to the new facility and expects to begin hiring new workers within two months. The governor's office did not release information about financial incentives for either project.
