ChenMed plans to expand its ChenTech subsidiary and establish a new software development center in the Central Business District of New Orleans, Louisiana, creating 50 additional jobs.

Using multiple programming languages, such as Java, PHP, HTML5 and iOS, ChenTech develops software applications for physicians, hospitals and clinics. The software products primarily will be used for serving ChenMed’s Medicare-eligible patient population, but the ChenTech programmers in New Orleans also will develop applications for other healthcare providers. ChenTech has begun hiring professionals for the New Orleans software development center and will reach full employment in two to three years.

“ChenTech delivers real technology value by proving and continually refining offerings with physician and patient feedback from actual clinical use,” said ChenMed CEO Christopher Chen. “We achieve superior ChenMed patient outcomes, such as achieving 38 percent fewer hospitalizations, and superior patient satisfaction levels as measured by Net Promoter Scores consistently averaging in the low- to mid-90s. These remarkable results for Medicare-eligible seniors could not be achieved without powerful, nimble and proprietary technologies pioneered by ChenTech.”

Gov. Bobby Jindal said, “Today’s announcement joins a long list of technology sector wins that prove Louisiana is quickly becoming a beacon for expansion in the digital media and software industries. Louisiana is home to a major hub of software centers and corporate headquarters because of our great business climate, strong infrastructure and highly skilled technology workforce. These wins continue to bring great high-paying tech jobs to our state that allow our people to pursue the careers of their dreams right here at home. Great companies like ChenTech are making major investments in our state because they know there is no better time to expand in the software industry than right now in Louisiana.”

As an incentive to secure the project, the State offered a competitive incentive package that includes the services of LED FastStart workforce development program. ChenTech also is expected to utilize Louisiana’s Digital Interactive Media and Software Development Incentive.

“ChenMed’s announcement of a major expansion of its ChenTech subsidiary is a double win for greater New Orleans,” said President and CEO Michael Hecht of Greater New Orleans Inc. “Playing in both the medical and technology sectors, ChenMed is the archetype of the new New Orleans company: innovative, nimble and fast-growing. GNO Inc. welcomes the ChenMed team."

“We are tremendously excited to welcome ChenTech’s expansion to Orleans Parish,” said President and CEO Rodrick Miller of the New Orleans Business Alliance. “The selection of New Orleans for ChenTech’s new software development center underscores the competitiveness of the New Orleans market and further strengthens our Creative Digital Media industry cluster. ChenTech’s plan to hire 50 people with an average salary of $83,000 contributes to the city’s overall goal of creating quality jobs and wealth for our residents."?
