About 1,000 new jobs are coming to North Texas over the next three years thanks to the construction of a new retail distribution center and new retail stores by two giant U.S. corporations.

Wal-Mart has announced it expects to create nearly 600 jobs due to this week's opening of a new store in Dallas and another new store (later this March) in Crowley, TX. The Bentonville, Arkansas-based company anticipates that each location eventually will hire up to 300 employees.

Headquartered in Milwaukee, Kohl's expects to create up to 400 jobs in DeSoto, TX, once its new 951,000-sq.-ft. distribution center is fully operational.

"This new facility will ensure that Kohl's is able to accommodate the tremendous growth of our Kohls.com business," said Ken Bonning, Executive VP of Store Planning and Logistics. "We currently operate 84 stores in Texas, and are pleased to expand our presence with this new facility."
