ROCKFON LLC, a subsidiary of Denmark-based ROCKWOOL International A/S and affiliate to ROXUL Inc., is locating acoustic ceiling panel manufacturing operations in Marshall County, Mississippi. The operations will be the company’s first in North America.

The project represents a corporate investment of $42 million over the next five years and will create at least 90 jobs. For the project, ROCKFON, a leading provider of acoustic stone wool and metal ceiling solutions and suspension systems, will construct a 130,000-square-foot addition adjacent to the existing ROXUL facility, which is located on more than 100 acres in the Chickasaw Trails Industrial Park.

“This investment and new facility further demonstrate ROCKWOOL’s commitment to the development of the North American market. The Mississippi facility will be ROCKFON’s fifth manufacturing facility in the world, extending global capacity and meeting the growing demand for ROCKFON’s stone wool acoustic ceiling products in North America,” said ROCKFON President-Americas John Medio. “We are very pleased to have this facility located in Mississippi.”

Mississippi Development Authority provided assistance in support of the project for infrastructure improvements and workforce training. Marshall County, Appalachian Regional Commission and the Tennessee Valley Authority also provided assistance.

“I am glad to welcome ROCKFON as the newest business partner to the State of Mississippi, and I am particularly grateful to the company for creating new jobs and economic opportunities for the residents of Marshall County,” Governor Phil Bryant said. “The company’s decision to locate its very first North American facility here is a strong testament to the supportive business environment and quality workforce found throughout the state. I wish the ROCKFON team many years of success in North Mississippi.”

“MDA salutes the winning teamwork of the Marshall County Board of Supervisors, the Marshall county Industrial Development Board, TVA and the Appalachian Regional Commission, which played a key support role in ROCKFON’s decision to locate in Mississippi,” said MDA Executive Director Glenn McCullough, Jr. “Their leadership, coupled with the MDA team, continues to attract exciting career opportunities for the people of North Mississippi.”
