Cymbet Corporation and X-FAB Texas Inc. are partnering to build what they say is the world's highest-volume solid state battery production plant in Lubbock, Texas. The project represents an investment of several million dollars and will create 77 jobs in five years.

"Partnering with Cymbet demonstrates X-FAB's commitment to our customers' long-term success. This EnerChip solid state battery fabrication facility extends our manufacturing capabilities into new cutting-edge technologies," said Lloyd Whetzel, president and CEO, X-FAB.

Cymbet will produce its EnerChip devices at the facility, which is expected to be operational in the second quarter of 2011.

"Texas' low taxes, reasonable and predictable regulatory environment, and skilled work force have helped make the Lone Star State the premier location for business expansion in the U.S. Thanks to the Texas Economic Development Bank, companies like Cymbet Corporation are expanding their operations in Texas and helping drive our state's economic engine," said Governor Rick Perry.

The Lubbock Economic Development Alliance, local government and City Council, and the Texas Economic Development Bank worked on the project.
