DHL Express, an international cargo hauler that calls Cincinnati Northern Kentucky International Airport its hub, plans a $47 million, 193,000 square foot, expansion of its processing and shipping facility in Hebron, Kentucky.

More than 2,000 workers sort cargo and mail loaded aboard 78 DHL flights a day, bound for both domestic and international destinations. The latest $47 million expansion will pave the way for DHL to hire 120 more fulltime employees and 163 part-time workers.

The expansion comes on top of $22 million in improvements made to its airport terminal facility last year at CVG, the airport's Federal Aviation Administration designation because of its proximity to the larger city of Covington, Kentucky.

State and Boone County Fiscal Court officials agreed to incentives, under the Kentucky Business Investment Program, that provide income tax credits on new workers and a credit on DHL's occupational license fee.

Candace McGraw, the airport's Chief Executive Officer, said while the airport is experiencing growth in its passenger business, serving the greater Cincinnati Area, "one particular area of exceptional growth is cargo."

She said "DHL's main North American hub processes 2.6 million pieces per month and sorts 92 percent of all U.S. delivery shipments. DHL's latest $46 million expansion will position DHL's hub for continued growth in package volume over the next 10 years."
