Nihon Shokken, a Japanese food manufacturer, has selected West Sacramento, California, for an American factory and operations, the Sacramento Bee reports. The company will also relocate its U.S. headquarters to the location.

"This is exactly the type of facility the region wants to attract," Tracey Schaal, the Sacramento Area Commerce and Trade Organization's vice president of strategic marketing, told the Bee. "We're very excited to welcome them to the community."

Nihon Shokken will invest $16 million in the site and initially create 100 jobs, a figure that could grow to 300. The company attributed the site decision to the area's water quality and infrastructure. The company could also qualify for tax credits for locating in an enterprise zone.

The company produces goods such as tempura batter mix, teriyaki sauce, and soup stocks.
