A company that manufactures custom gears and gear racks for the industrial, agricultural, machine tool, and commercial markets, Moore Gear and Manufacturing Company will invest more than $1.8 million to expand its manufacturing plant by 17,500 square feet and increase production capacity in Hermann, Missouri. The expansion project is expected to create 34 new jobs in the next five years.

Bill Haag, Sr., Moore Gear President/CEO, attributes the company’s success to the highly skilled employees working at the facility and looks to continue to grow employment opportunities at the Hermann location. The company has nearly doubled its employment since 2008. “The city’s commitment to creating a pro-business climate while tackling the difficult challenges facing many rural communities motivated us to make this investment in Hermann,” Haag said.

This is the second time in just six years that Moore Gear has expanded in Hermann. In 2009, the company added 21,000 square feet to its campus to accommodate for additional production and shipping capacity.

As an incentive to assist Moore Gear with its expansion in Hermann, the Missouri Department of Economic Development offered a strategic economic incentive packaget that the company can receive if it meets strict job creation and investment criteria. The Hermann Regional Economic Development Corporation also partnered with Moore Gear to make its expansion possible.

“Missouri’s tradition of manufacturing excellence is built on companies like Moore Gear— family-owned businesses who hire locally, ship their products all over the world, and reinvest in their communities,” said Governor Jay Nixon. “The state is proud to partner with Moore Gear on their expansion and grateful for their commitment to growing in Hermann.”
