M&G DuraVent, Inc., a technological leader in the venting industry is expanding and relocating its production operations in New York State, retaining 58 jobs and creating 103 new jobs in Albany County, New York.

“Everyone is very excited,” said M&G DuraVent Albany Vice President and General Manager Michael Wolfe. “It’s a first rate location that gives us the space to expand into the future, take on the production of PolyPro, and create new additional jobs.”

As part of the expansion of its venting systems manufacturing plant in the Capital Region, DuraVent leased and renovated a 140,000 square-foot facility on Jupiter Lane in the Town of Colonie, New York. The new facility will be more than double in size from its previous 65,000 square-foot location on Pearl Street, allowing the Albany facility to assume manufacturing responsibilities previously done in California and Mississippi.

The new facility will also be the future home to M&G DuraVent’s manufacturing processes of PolyPro, an environmentally safe and engineered alternative for condensing gas appliances. The new location’s relative proximity to the previous Pearl Street location allows the retention of all employees, and is an ideal location in terms of access to highways and local services.

“DuraVent’s decision to expand in Albany County and bring jobs here to New York State is great news for the Capital Region,” Gov. Andrew Cuomo said. “Today's announcement is yet another demonstration that businesses across the nation are once again seeing New York State as a place to invest and create jobs."

As an incentive, Empire State Development will assist DuraVent with $1 million in Excelsior Jobs Program tax credits and New York State Homes and Community Renewal, through Albany County, will provide $416,000 in NYS Community Development Block Grant funds to be used toward the purchase of machinery and equipment necessary for the expansion. In addition, in 2011, the New York State Department of Labor, through Governor Cuomo’s Regional Council initiative and Consolidated Funding Application process, awarded DuraVent $50,000 through its worker training program.

“Under Governor Cuomo’s leadership, more manufacturing companies are choosing to locate and keep their business in New York,” said Empire State Development President, CEO and Commissioner Kenneth Adams. “Despite outside competition, DuraVent chose to stay and grow its operations in the Capital Region, demonstrating that the region’s unique assets make it an attractive place to do business. I’m pleased that we were able to assist DuraVent expand locally and create more than 100 new jobs.”
