Area Development
Fortune 500 company DaVita Inc., a provider of kidney care services, will relocate its corporate headquarters to Denver, Colorado; it is currently headquartered in El Segundo, California. The company says in a statement that a specific location has not yet been chosen in Colorado, but company executives expect to move a number of senior executives to the Denver area. Kent Thiry, DaVita's chair and CEO, says there are no plans at ths time to move employees in the current California headquarters or other locations around the country. "We're very pleased to announce our search is over and we've selected the Denver area to make our home," says Thiry. "I want to thank Governor [Bill] Ritter, Mayor [John] Hickenlooper, and their staffs for making such a tremendous effort in helping us choose Colorado." The company says it chose Denver due to the city's strategic geographic location, relatively lower costs, and highly desirable quality of life. The Colorado governor's office says that job creation legislation signed by the governor earlier this month will make DaVita eligible for financial incentives, but did not specify specific dollar amounts.
