Columbus McKinnon Corporation, a manufacturer of material handling products used in industrial operations, will invest $3.5 million to expand its facility in Lexington, Tennessee, according to the Tennessee governor's office. The expansion will retain 172 employees, and the New York-headquartered company plans to create an additional 25 jobs with the project. The Lexington facility, known as the CM Chain operation, makes chain and assembly designs used for overhead lifting, positioning, and load securement. The expansion will include infrastructure improvements such as building modifications and power upgrades, as well as the addition of new manufacturing equipment. "In making our decision, we considered the improvements in quality, efficiency, productivity, and customer service at the Lexington operation, along with the facility's excellent safety culture and strong leadership," says Chuck Giesige, Columbus McKinnon's vice president. "All of these factors are necessary for success in today's demanding business environment." The governor's office did not release information regarding financial incentives.
