Overhead Door is closing its Athens, Georgia production facility, laying off 111 workers, the Athens Banner-Herald reports. The garage door maker, which is based in Dallas, will move production to Pensacola, Florida. The transition is expected to be completed by April 2011.

"We're doing this in order to be more efficient and competitive in the marketplace," said Overhead's vice president of human resources Ken Mahlke. "Right now, price is very important to our customers and we have to keep costs under control."

The company also attributed the decision to location. So far, up to five employees have said they will likely relocate to Pensacola.
