Particle City, a game development company backed by Respawn Entertainment, is locating in downtown Orlando, Florida. The company plans to make a multi-million dollar capital investment over the next three years.

The company was founded by gaming industry veterans Vince Zampella and Larry Pacey to create original games that center on competition and a strong player community and connectivity, according to the Orlando Economic Development Commission. Particle City headquarters is based in Los Angeles, but chose Orlando as the home of its new East Coast games studio. The company brands itself as being “at the crossroads of art & science for interactive entertainment.”

“We are extremely honored and happy to announce that we are developing a series of mobile games based on the 2014 smash hit Titanfall which has an expansive community of 12+ million unique players,” said Particle City CEO Larry Pacey.

“As home of two of the top 20 schools in the nation for digital media and game design and some of the world’s most well-known game developers, the City of Orlando is excited to add Particle City to its growing mobile game development community," said Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer. "Particle City’s decision to open a new games studio in Downtown Orlando is a testament to our talent pipeline, dynamic business environment and the high quality of life.”

“The Orlando Economic Development Commission worked with the company by assisting with the site search facilitating tours of possible locations across the region,” said Orlando EDC Chair David Fuller. “Ultimately, Particle City chose to locate in downtown Orlando due to the access to highly qualified talent in the game development industry.”

Particle City’s location also places them close to the University of Central Florida’s Florida Interactive Entertainment Academy (FIEA), Full Sail University and DAVE School as well as in the heart of downtown Orlando’s vibrant tech scene.

“The expansion of Particle City to Orlando is a testament to the high quality talent available in the Orlando region for game development and we look forward to their continued growth and success,” said EDC Executive Vice President Holly Wiedman.
