Symmetry Medical, an advanced manufacturing company that produces implants, instruments, and cases for orthopedic device manufacturers, is investing $14.8 million and creating 160 jobs in Lansing, Michigan, television station WLNS6 reports.

"This is yet another major step forward in our efforts to diversify our local economy and redefine Lansing as a new technology and advanced manufacturing powerhouse," said Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero.

The state's MEGA board must approve the plans at a meeting on September 14, and the Lansing City Council must approve a local personal property incentive. Symmetry already employs nearly 400 people in Lansing.
