Cleantech Talent Pools
As cleantech is an emerging industry, business and skills are still being defined. From which labor pool should cleantech companies draw when hiring, i.e., is there some field of expertise that lends itself to being a cleantech expert with some additional training and education?

Olaf Babinet, Senior Manager, Global Expansion Optimization Group, Deloitte Consulting
A natural labor pool is from the semiconductor cluster especially at engineer level for solar wafer and solar cells manufacturing plants. At a technician level, any area with strong presence of available technician with electrical, mechanic and process background for solar and wind industries. Polysilicon plants will favor proximity to chemical clusters (for Siemens technology) or steel/metal cluster (for metallurgical technology). At an operator level, solar/wind/advanced batteries companies will be looking for employees with some related or transferrable experience.
