Ecodistrict Sites Likely to Appreciate in Value
While formal studies have not been conducted, sites in a successful ecodistrict are likely to gain in value over the years.
Is it more expensive for a company to locate in an ecodistrict? Do the cost savings outweigh the expense of locating there?

Tom Breunig, Director of Marketing and Communications, Earth Advantage Institute
There is no data on this to date. However, the common thinking is that in the case of a fuller ecodistrict — where energy and water treatments are shared, where mixed use brings more foot traffic and visitors, and events provide corporate community building or corporate-residential community building — the financial benefits and increased awareness within the community would provide a return well beyond any initial investment in locating there. Additionally, in a successful ecodistrict, the space would likely increase in value over time, as does valuation of certified green and energy efficient buildings and homes (Read an Earth Advantage Institute report to learn more about the valuation of certified green homes).
