Why do so few companies fail to get a thorough supply chain analysis during the site selection process?

This is because real estate companies and consulting firms have historically been the primary provider of site selection services and their competencies have generally been focused on land, construction, incentives and labor costs. Most do not have the tools or expertise to do the thorough supply chain analysis. As such, most location decisions do not adequately address the supply chain optimization question.
