Ford Creating 7,000 Jobs Across Eight U.S. Facilities

01/10/2011
Ford has pledged to creating 7,000 jobs through 2012, the company announced today. The company will add nearly 4,000 positions at U.S. manufacturing plants. It will also create 750 engineering jobs in development and manufacturing, and at least 2,500 additional manufacturing jobs next year.

"Ford is committed to American manufacturing, and we are on a path to add more than 7,000 American workers over the next two years as we continue to grow our product lineup," said Mark Fields, Ford president of the Americas. "Working with our partners, including the UAW, Ford is finding competitive ways to engineer and build even more high-quality, fuel-efficient vehicles with technologies American consumers really want."

The Louisville Assembly Plant in Kentucky will gain 1,800 jobs alone. That facility will launch the next-generation Ford Escape in late 2011. Facilities in Boston; Chicago; Cincinnati; Columbus, Ohio; Milwaukee; Raleigh and Durham, North Carolina; and San Jose, California will receive the new workers.
