SMC will establish a manufacturing facility in Nicholasville, Kentucky, and hire 94 employees with a $1.9 million investment according to an announcement by Gov. Steve Beshear.

Expected to be at full capacity in early 2013, the new operation will manufacture circuit board assemblies and perform systems integration for the electronics industry. It will be located in the former 22,500-sq.-ft. Custom Wiring building.

Owner Rob Coats said his business "is high-tech manufacturing with a small business atmosphere." SMC's core industries served include aerospace and defense, construction equipment, medical, transportation, security and industrial controls.

The Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority preliminarily approved SMC for performance-based tax incentives of up to $1.5 million through the Kentucky Business Investment program.
