01/26/2018
Kitware will invest over $10 million to lease and outfit more than 43,000 square feet of office space at the new facility under construction on Route 9 in Clifton Park, 9.6 miles east of Schenectady. The company is relocating to accommodate current and future growth, with plans to add over 40 jobs over the next five years.
To encourage the expansion, ESD has offered up to $400,000 in performance-based Excelsior Jobs Program tax credits for the creation of 41 new jobs.
Kitware President, CEO & Co-Founder Lisa Avila said, "Our success is fueled by our talented team members. It is their passion for developing innovative open-source software platforms that enables us to fulfill our mission to advance the frontiers of understanding. Our new headquarters will allow us to grow, and with new team members, we will explore new areas of innovation. We are thankful to New York State for supporting our growth."
"The expansion of this great New York company is great news for the Capital Region and further adds to the region's high tech economy," Governor Andrew Cuomo said. "We will continue to support businesses and economic growth in New York, in turn creating quality job opportunities across the state."
Empire State Development President, CEO & Commissioner Howard Zemsky said, "The Capital Region's innovation economy continues to flourish, with world-class companies like Kitware expanding their operations and adding new high-tech jobs. They are a true home-grown New York State company, and we are proud to work with them on this project."
Clifton Park Town Supervisor Phil Barrett said, "Clifton Park is pleased to be home to the new headquarters for Kitware, Inc. Kitware is a Southern Saratoga County success story and the company has grown exponentially from its founding in 1998. Kitware conducts business worldwide, with offices in various regions of the United States and France. Retaining 88 jobs locally in Clifton Park at the international software developer proves Clifton Park can compete successfully for desirous private investment. The Kitware Headquarters is another successful redevelopment project in Clifton Park's Exit 9 Commerce Area, creating value for our town while retaining highly attractive jobs for the future."
