Israeli Fiber Company Investing $17 Million for North Carolina Facility

10/13/2009
Shalag Industries Ltd., a manufacturer and supplier of non-woven fibers, will invest US$17 million to build a new factory in Oxford, North Carolina, according to the North Carolina governor's office. The company, which is headquartered in Upper Galilee, Israel, will create 42 new jobs at an average annual salary of $39,966 plus benefits. Shalag produces fabric from polypropylene, polyester, and viscose fibers that are used in the production of dry and wet wipes, disposable diapers, and personal hygiene products. "Shalag is looking forward to becoming a successful corporate citizen in North Carolina and in Oxford," says Ilan Pickman, the company's CEO. "North Carolina is a recognized center for nonwoven manufacturing and R&D, and we have identified here a strong infrastructure to support our business." The state will provide Shalag with a $110,000 grant, contingent on job creation, that must be matched by local governments.
