GE Appliance Expands Operations in Louisville, Kentucky
10/02/2018
Throughout this year and next, GEA will invest in Appliance Park, its largest manufacturing facility and headquarters location in Louisville.
Plans include investment in its laundry production facility to add an industry-leading new topload washer, completely new dryer platform and additional production capacity for existing models. The laundry production expansion will increase manufacturing capacity by approximately 20 percent.
In addition the company will invest in dishwasher production to expand the plant’s production capabilities by 35 percent for new plastic and stainless-steel tub models.
“The investments we are making today continue our mission of creating product and production supersites where we can more efficiently channel our innovation and manufacturing expertise by product line,” said Kevin Nolan, President & CEO for GE Appliances. “This will greatly accelerate our ability to provide innovative new products that will delight consumers, expand our workforce and enhance our leadership in the major appliance industry.”
“GE Appliances has long been an exemplary corporate partner for Louisville and the Commonwealth,” Governor Matt Bevin said. “This iconic company has employed many thousands of Kentuckians for generations, and we are grateful for their most recent investment in the Bluegrass State. As GE Appliances continues to adapt to a changing marketplace, we are confident that they will remain a perfect fit right here in Kentucky, America’s center for engineering and manufacturing excellence.”
Earlier this year, GE Appliances announced a series of investments in its U.S. operations totaling $275 million and creating more than 650 new jobs. The investments help position the business for growth and advance the innovative products and technologies available to consumers. The previous announcements include expansions at plants in Selmer, Tennessee, and Decatur, Alabama, and four new distribution facilities across the company’s vast distribution network.
