Communications Test Design Expands Glenville, New York, Production Complex

Communications Test Design, Inc., a global engineering, repair and logistics company servicing the telecommunications sector, is expanding its Capital Region operations into a second building at the Glenville Business and Technology Park in Glenville, Schenectady County, New York.

CTDI will invest $800,000 in machinery and equipment, lease 73,000 square feet of space in a new $5 million, 98,000 square foot building to be built at the Glenville Business and Technology Park, while adding 37 new jobs.

To encourage CTDI to proceed with its expansion, Empire State Development has offered up to $400,000 in performance-based Excelsior Jobs Program tax credits. Additionally, the Schenectady County Metroplex Development Authority will provide a PILOT agreement and sales tax exemption for this project.

The Pennsylvania-based company will add nearly 40 jobs to support their Capital Region operations. Previously, CTDI committed to create 150 jobs and utilize 130,000 square feet of operation space. They exceeded their commitment, doubling the number of employees to more than 300 and adding an additional 20,000 square feet.

"The Capital Region has seen unprecedented growth and investment in recent years and with CTDI's decision to expand in Glenville, we ensure that this region's momentum continues strong," Governor Andrew Cuomo said. "With this expansion, CTDI will create dozens of jobs, helping to spur Schenectady County's economy for years to come."

Empire State Development President, CEO and Commissioner Howard Zemsky said, "Since CTDI arrived in Schenectady County, the company has exceeded its job creation goals and continues to grow to meet the increased demand of its customer base. We are proud to work with our local partners to encourage CTDI's Capital Region expansion project."
